Purpose-Led Programs in the Wild
Some trips are about adventure. These ones go deeper.
Our Special Programs are built around connection, learning, and time in the wild — whether that’s giving young people real outdoor skills, creating space for women to get properly out there, or helping men reset their heads in quiet backcountry.
Each program runs in small groups, led by experienced local guides, and shaped by real conditions — not schedules. No classrooms. No pressure. Just time in wild places, doing things that matter, and learning by being there.
These are purpose-driven adventures in one of the last truly wild corners of New Zealand — designed for people who want more than a standard trip, and for experiences that actually leave a mark.

Future Wild.
4 Days. No Phones. Real Skills.
This isn’t a school camp.
This is four days in real backcountry — where teens learn the outdoor skills that are slowly being lost.
We take small groups (max. 6 teens, age 13–18) into the wild around Haast and the Southwest. No phones. No distractions. Just bush, river, ocean, weather, and responsibility.
They won’t sit and listen.
They’ll do.
They’ll learn how to:
-
Build and manage a proper fire
-
Prepare fishing tackle and choose the right hooks and bait
-
Catch, fillet, and cook fish over open flames
-
Read river flow and ocean conditions
-
Navigate with map and terrain awareness
-
Read weather patterns and make safe decisions
-
Choose a smart campsite before dark
-
Set up tents and create a functional basecamp
They’ll carry gear. Make decisions. Work as a team.
They’ll get cold. They’ll get tired. They’ll also gain confidence most teenagers never get the chance to build.
This is back to basics. Back to responsibility. Back to the wild.
And they’ll return home stronger, more capable, and with real respect for nature — and for themselves.

Wild Her Way.
Skill. Strength. Real Backcountry.
This isn’t a retreat.
This is a women-only backcountry adventure built around real skills, real confidence, and real connection.
Out in the wild around Haast and the Southwest, small groups come together to step outside comfort zones and into capability. No distractions. No pressure. Just a solid crew, experienced guides, and the kind of country that demands presence.
You won’t just talk about doing hard things — you’ll do them.
You’ll learn how to:
-
Build and manage a safe backcountry fire
-
Prepare fishing gear and catch your own fish
-
Fillet and cook over open flame
-
Navigate through bush and along river systems
-
Read weather patterns and make smart calls
-
Select and set up a solid campsite
-
Move safely through rugged terrain
-
Track, harvest, and butcher a deer (when opportunity allows)
If we spot a deer and the moment is right, you’ll learn the full process — from field dressing to breaking it down properly. Respect for the animal. Respect for the land. Real understanding of where food comes from.
We stay in remote huts or sleep under the stars, depending on conditions and group preference. Evenings are about good food, shared effort, and stories around the fire.
This is about stepping into strength — physically and mentally.
You’ll leave tired. Proud. Capable.
And with skills most people never learn.

Backcountry Reset
Most men don’t need another lecture.
They don’t need another screen.
And they don’t always need a therapist’s office.
Sometimes they just need wild country, a fire, and other men willing to show up properly.
This is four days off the grid in the raw landscapes of South Westland. Mountains. Rivers. Coastline. Real weather. Real effort. Real conversations.
No phones.
No constant notifications.
No distractions.
This is about stepping away from the ordinary and into something older and more honest.
We move through the bush together. We climb ridgelines. We glass valleys. We fish cold, clear rivers. If the opportunity comes, we stalk a deer — not just for the hunt, but for the responsibility that follows. Field dressing. Carrying it out. Cooking it properly. Respecting the process from start to finish.
You’ll learn practical skills — fire craft, navigation, reading weather, working as a team in changing conditions — but the real value runs deeper than technique.
Out here, growth happens naturally.
Around the fire at night, conversations open up in a way they don’t in everyday life. Not forced. Not clinical. Just real. Honest talk between men who are all carrying something — pressure, responsibility, expectation, noise.
You’ll rely on each other. Share the load. Make decisions together. Push through discomfort together. And that builds something that doesn’t happen in comfort.
This is about grounding.
Teamwork.
Responsibility.
Brotherhood.
(Not a boys’ trip to Bali.)
You’ll head home tired in the best way. Clearer. Calmer. Stronger. More alive.
Not because someone fixed you —
but because you stepped out of the noise and back into something real.
